High Wolf / Don't DJ
French drone/psych producer High Wolf has been creating his own mix of world music, electronic research and psychedelic experimentations since debuting in 2009 on the label Not Not Fun. Since then he has released albums on Holy Mountain, Rocket Recordings, Leaving Records and toured across the globe. High Wolf has collaborated with Low Jack, Sun Araw, Gnod and Astral Social Club. 2016 sees the first electronic only High Wolf live performance with the use of modular synth and drum machine, continuing the exploration of electronic pan-african influenced music as heard on 2015 "Growing Wild", Leaving Records. One of his many side projects is Black Zone Myth Chant, described as "Sun Ra meets Dj Screw". BZMC released ‘Jimi W’ on Low Jack's label Editions Gravats in February, following up 2015’s ’Mane Thecel Phares’.
Florian Meyer's Don't DJ project is described as "electronic club music mimicking world music while neither deploying preexisting instruments nor preexisting rhythms". Don't DJ is interested in what he calls "musique acéphale" - a metric which has no distinct starting point and encourages the listener to constantly switch his metric focus to discover different "points of listen" within the same arrangement. Recent releases include 'Gammellan' (Berceuse Heroique) 2016, and 'Authentic Exoticism' (Sexes) 2016.
