Ben Vince's experiments for saxophone reach far and wide. On his new record ‘Assimilation’, he’s made extremely next generation free jazz. Released for Where To Now?, it includes dealings with musical polymath Mica Levi (Micachu) and leftfield producer Rupert Clervaux, as well as Merlin Nova, Valentina Magaletti and Cam Deas, hopping between disciplines to create a coming-and-going avant-ensemble. An expansive record delving into noise, dance and improv, it serves as a striking counterpoint to Vince’s earlier, more solitary work -- on ‘Monuments’ he proved himself a budding minimalist via endless sheets of sax loops. He’s also recently collaborated with Joy O for a 12” on Hessle Audio.
Tickets are £7 and will be £8 on the door.
