Tribal drums and screaming guttural saxophone. Architects of intense contrast the duo’s diverse and precise instrumentation regularly flirts with fragility and raw power.

Formed through a shared passion for improvisation, spiritual jazz and heavier experimental music, they are Andrew Neil Hayes (saxophones / electronics) and Matt Brown (drum kit / percussion), and have been authoring their own narrative in the new wave of crossover jazz, whilst touring the UK extensively, sharing stages with the likes of Colin Stetson, Melt Yourself Down, Shabaka Hutchings, and The Bad Plus. In 2019 they received the Montreux Jazz Talent Award for their performance at the festival.

“Fearless music making” Martin Pyne

J Frisco are an award-winning (Jazz North Introduces 2017) avant-garde jazz duo/trio featuring soprano saxophone, electric guitar, keyboards and vocals; they create improvised genre-fluid soundscapes and noise drawn from emotion, political, and feminist issues. They thrive on challenging both their own and their audiences perceptions of time, space and sound.
Performance highlights include a headline show at Vortex Jazz Club, Sofar Sounds, The Cockpit: Jazz in the Round and many UK jazz festivals including London Jazz Festival, Gateshead International Jazz Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival and have supported acts including Courtney Pine, Portico Quartet, Laura Jurd, Roller Trio, Matthew Bourne, and Elliott Galvin.

They have recently released their debut album ‘naked’ available on all streaming platforms with their second album to be released as a series of singles through 2020.

//Gnomefoam //
iOS synth pop with a darkness lingering around its melodies and a healthy disdain for genre boundaries. Gnomefoam has, "the lo-fi charm of Ariel Pink combined with the experimentalism of Max Tundra, plus a dose of over-caffeinated Why?" (www.disagreement.net)

Gnomefoam was born on a music forum in the late 2000s, where he honed his skills as a cut & paste noise maker for various file sharing bands, putting out music through Netherlands based Rack & Ruin Records and Edinburgh’s Bearsuit Records (as one third of anata wa sukkari tsukarete shimai).

He has since found his way out of the internet and into the real world as an iOS musician, blending hip hop, IDM and synth pop into his own brand of electronic pop.
