MELMANN - DM
Buenos Aires based composer Nicolas Melmann combines different musical dimensions into sound art, using electronics with acoustic instruments, always innovating in his compositions, pioneering new formats, exploring sound, sonic resources and instruments. Walking a line between experimentation and melody, his music is nocturnal and introspective. Melmann was chosen to represent Argentina in the Red Bull Music Academy New York 2013, where he also performed at the Metropolitan Art Museum (MET), sharing the stage with Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
On stage, Melmann is a one man orchestra playing electronics (beat box, kaoss pad, loop station and computers) alongside acoustic instruments (ukulele, melodica, hang drum, harp, tiny percussion etc.), live processing, field recordings and text. Since 2006 he has been developing a media project combining sounds with images working with VJS, generating a mix between these elements, looking for a conceptual and discursive unity between them.
