Film Screaming: Teinosuke Kinugasa's A Page of Madness (1926)
Aaron Moore (Volcano the Bear) and Phil Todd (Ashtray Navigations) present a live improvised film score to accompany Teinosuke Kinugasa's A Page of Madness (狂った一頁), 1926.
Aaron Moore, multi-instrumentalist with esteemed avant-prog outfit Volcano the Bear (whose new 5 LP set 'Commencing' is released on MIASMAH recordings this month) is joined by Phil Todd of Leeds-based psychedelic juggernaut Ashtray Navigations for a special one-off collaboration, where they will produce a live improvised score to accompany Teinosuke Kinugasa's 1926 film 'A Page of Madness', set in an asylum. The film was lost for almost half a century before it was rediscovered in a warehouse by Kinugasa himself in 1971, and is the product of an avant-garde group of artists in Japan known as the Shinkankaku-ha (or 'School of New Perceptions').
